Eligible Activities

 
  • If you are a member of a youth group (Girl/Boy Scouts, church, etc.) you can count hours doing volunteer service with these groups. Please note that time spent attending meetings does not count.
  • Volunteer time at local animal shelters. 
  • Help the elderly, disabled, and homeless in the community by providing yard work, household tasks, food, etc. 
  • Help with activities at assisted living facilities, hospitals or daycare centers. 
  • Mentor, tutor or coach young people.
  • Provide volunteer services to help neighboring schools 
  • Help with Church activities such as Caritas, acolyte, or any other volunteer activity. 
  • Participate in neighborhood cleanups, recycling programs, and other efforts to protect our environment and natural resources. 
  • Assist with RMS special events. 
  • Serve as trainer/helper for RMS sports teams or other community based programs. 
  • Assist the PTA with its many programs that help RMS. 

Guidelines

 
  • Volunteer service is counted if your service is provided free (no monetary or other compensation is provided). 
  • Students must have at least 20 hours of volunteer service during the year to be recognized under the RSVP program. 
  • A supervising adult must sign each entry on the log. 
  • RSVP volunteer service will be counted from May 1 through April 30 of each school year. 
  • No service to anyone in your immediate or extended family can be counted. 
  • The organization for which services are provided must be included on the form for hours to be counted. 
  • The RSVP logs must be turned in at the respective due dates in order to be eligible for the end of period incentives (gift card).

President of the United States Award

Students logging 50 or more hours during the school year will also earn the President's award:
 
  • 50 hours-Bronze
  • 75 hours-Silver
  • 100 hours-Gold

 
*At the end of each nine weeks, a student in each grade with the most hours logged for that period will receive a gift card. To be eligible, you must deliver your log to the front office on dates to be announced around the same time as the end of each nine-week period. The due date is noted at the top of the form.  Watch the Raider Report for any updates. At the end of the year, all students with 20 hours or more of eligible volunteer service for the school year will be recognized at the year-end assembly. It is up to the student to verify that his or her hours are received by the RSVP coordinators – no late forms will be accepted!
